Orange and black tissue paper
Balloon
Mod Podge or watered-down white glue
1” wide paint brush

Battery-powered tea Light
Let’s get organized!
- Cut up the orange tissue paper into 2” x 2” squares
- Cut the black tissue paper into face shapes, dots, or desired pattern.
- Blow up the balloon to desired size (we used a 12” balloon and blew it up a quarter if it’s size).
- Make a black line to where you want the tissue paper to do up to.
- Create a base for the balloon if you don’t want to hold it.
- Tape balloon to the base.
Let’s get creating!
- Using your paint brush, apply mod podge/glue to your balloon.
- Apply a piece of orange tissue paper and then paint it on with mod podge/glue.
- Repeat until your balloon is covered in orange.
- Add the pumpkin face or design to your balloon.
- Let your design dry overnight.
TIP: Layer the orange tissue paper as you apply it. It will be stronger this way!
The next day
- Your balloon might be shrinking and pulling the tissue paper in. Don’t worry! Pop the balloon and gently pull it off of the tissue paper structure.
- If there are holes are rips use packing tape to repair
Adding a string to hand your lantern
- Reinforce with packing tape where you think the holes will go.
- Punch the holes in desired area.
- Tie a string to create a handle.
