Nat Geo Live: Backstage - Bertie Gregory

Nat Geo Live: Backstage - Bertie Gregory

Time to Read: Less than 2 minutes

Welcome to Nat Geo Live: Backstage, a Facebook live event featuring National Geographic Explorers, photographers, filmmakers, and conservationists, and including a live Q&A session where you can get your questions answered – in real time.  This is a pilot program developed by National Geographic Live and the hope is to learn from those who participate how to improve it. You do not need Facebook to watch the program, but you do need a Facebook account for the Q&A portion. Please feel free to share your feedback at info@artscommons.ca. We will be sure to pass it along to National Geographic Live.

The first presentation for the month of May features National Geographic Photographer and Filmmaker, Bertie Gregory. Bertie graced the Jack Singer Concert Hall stage with his amazing photographs and hilarious stories in a 2017-18 presentation of Arts Commons Presents: National Geographic Live.

Bertie wants you to fall in love with the natural world and show that looking after wildlife is more than just a nice thing to do; it's crucial to all our futures. When Bertie was just 19 years old (only 5 years ago!), he picked up the Gold Award in the Youth Category at the International Independent Film Awards. The same year, he was named the Scientific Exploration Society Zenith Explorer 2015. Bertie spends a lot of his time tracking and filming the illusive coastal wolf on the west coast of Vancouver Island, Canada.

“I just want people more excited about wildlife in general. I want people to get off their iPads and their iPhones, and to get outside and get up close and personal with nature because it’s good for your soul, and everyone needs it.”

Meet Bertie here on Nat Geo Live: Backstage.
